Welcome to the  Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul in Lingfield. I am very pleased to be able to introduce you to this church and  some of its many and varied activities, as well as those of  St Georges Church at Crowhurst.

The history of Lingfield church is very interesting and quite unique, with the memorials to the Cobham family who were very influential in the building of the church in the 14th century. There is much to explore and I urge you to have a closer look.

We are proud of our building but the real church is the people and we are a mixture of people from every walk of life. We are a people on a mission. Our mission is to build God’s Kingdom in our hearts and homes, in our church and community and beyond.

God’s Kingdom is where God’s will is done, and where God’s will is done there is love, joy, peace and so much more.

We hope you may be able to join us on our spiritual journey with God who loves you and wants to bless you.

The Revd. Stephen Gendall

FROM THIS WEEK’S PEW SHEET Sunday 13th May

The Sick – Please pray for Charles Johnson and for those whose names have been placed on the prayer board in the Lady Chapel. Rest in Peace – We remember Gordon Rice  and all who have died recently. We also recall those whose anniversary falls at this time, and others known to us. Gordon Rice – A Service of Thanksgiving will be held on Friday May 18 at 3.00pm in St Peter & St Paul.

Sad or just bad? -Bishop of Southwark’s Lent Call 2012 – Funds for this appeal were placed in the Miller Room milk churn during recent services. When opened to bank the money it was found that the churn was empty, although we are aware many generous people had contributed, as in previous years. We don’t know at this stage when access had been gained and how the money disappeared. The police have been notified. It is unlikely that cheques will be cashed, but bank accounts should be checked to see if funds have been deducted, or not. The congregation will be informed if more information becomes available.

Daily Prayer 2012 – Please pray daily that our eyes would be open to see the hand of our Lord at work in our lives and in the Parish. How many different ways could you say you have seen God at work this past week?

Individual Prayers – We have a team led by the staff of Lingfield Parish available to pray with you in confidence at the end of the service. They may be found in the Lady Chapel. If they are busy with someone please wait in the Lady Chapel and another member of the team will join you as soon as possible.

. Powered by God – Discipleship with the Gospel of Mark – 2012 During 2012 we are going to use the Gospel of  Mark to help us to become stronger Christians and develop a deeper relationship with our .Lord Jesus. We will use the Sunday sermon slot and hope to expand that to other areas of the church life as the year progresses. Notes from sermons so far: From Mary; New beginnings and new opportunities to share the love of God we have received with others. From Michael; Jesus is the new Israel and we need to listen to him as we try to be his disciples. From Steve; As his disciples we are called to empty ourselves of who we are and be filled with God. We are powered people not programmed. Powered by God. From Jenny; Although we all struggle through the manure of life, it is that manure which also helps the seed of faith grow, spread and flourish.
