A letter from the Vicar
Dear Friends
“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy”.
Many of you will remember this as the prayer attributed to Francis of Assisi, a great saint, whose only purpose in life was to serve our Lord; some of you will recognise part of it as quoted by Margaret Thatcher, the longest serving British Prime Minister of the twentieth century; and many of you will recognise it as a hymn and prayer that you have used yourselves.
There is too much darkness in the world. There is too much division and destruction and the result is that individuals, communities and countries do not have the God given opportunity to experience forgiveness and hope, love and joy.
At Easter we remember the events of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. Events that call us to faith, offer us hope and pour out the love of God. Events which through history have healed individuals, built communities and made countries great!
This Easter please join us at one of our services or, in the privacy of your own home and heart, reflect on the truth that God loves you. Easter reminds us of this truth and makes it possible for you and the world we live in to experience His peace. Peace be with you.
God Bless You
Steve

Roof Restoration Update
Work is well under way now and it is anticipated that it will be completed by the end of April. Work on the roof was delayed while some urgent repairs were made to the parapet on the tower which was in an unsafe condition. Now that the scaffolding for this has been removed, work on the roof can continue. The relatively mild winter has meant that very little time was lost through bad weather. You may have noticed that the work continued while the snow was on the ground and during some very high winds. There was no problem with bats in the roof and the swifts have been accommodated with refurbished nesting places and we look forward to their return.
We will all be pleased to see the work completed, the scaffolding removed and the churchyard returned to its usual peaceful state. You might be interested to hear about the project at 6.30pm on 15th April when we shall be welcoming the architect, contractor and the bat and swift conservationist who will give a presentation in the church. This event has been arranged by The Friends of St Peter and St Paul’s
